Meeting
The bluest of blues, that's what his eyes were, and oddly enough that's how I felt that day, until he came and sat a crossed from me on a park bench. I couldn't keep my eyes off of him as I sat there trying to draw in my sketch book at the table I sat at. I didn't know why I could stop staring at him.
He wasn't the most hanging man that ever lived as he was dressed in a pair of pain blue jeans, with a white plain t-shirt that was covered up by a brown blazer jacket. He looked normal. Then why couldn't I stop staring?
His long soft brown hair hovered off his head on the light fall breeze as he switched his legs that he had his book propped up on. He rubbed his unshaven chin as a grin spread a crossed his faced in a quite giggle. What was so dam funny? What was he reading that could be so funny? I wondered.
Just then as if he knew that I was looking at him his eyes shot up from his book to catch me looking at him. I quickly averted my gaze to my sketch book as embarrassment started to fill me up. I glanced up to see he was gone from his seat, then to see him walking over to me and put my head back down.
Oh, great! Now he's going to tell me how much of a freak I am for staring. I know it's wrong to stare. Why don't I ever listen to my mother?
"Excuse me miss?" He called out to me. His voice soft spoken, with a Midwestern twang to it. I lifted my head to feel my face heating up in fear, and even more embrassment. "I noticed you from a crossed the way and..."
Saw how you were staring at me, and wanted to let you know that you should go to hell for being rude......
".....Thought I'd come over and say hello."
"What?" I asked surprized.
"I know that sounds like a crummy pick up line, but I saw you notice me and thought it nice to say hello," He answered. He scartched the back of his head.
"Oh, I... mean that sounds ok."
"My name is Martin," He extented his hand.
"Gwen," I shook his hand.
"Nice to meet you Gwen," Martin smiled. "Do you mind if I asked to join me to get some coffee or something?"
"Sure," I smiled. "That sounds great."
